oftware for alpaca herd management (author: Steven Brumby)

have designed a database specifically for alpaca herd management, which runs under Microsoft Access for Windows 95.
ommercial packages are available (see links below). However, I preferred to use a general-purpose database management system. I chose Access, which is included in Microsoft Office Professional. Having spent quite a lot of time developing this database, it occurred to me that I might save other alpaca breeders from duplicating my effort if I made my database freely available over the web.

he database comes with some data already entered. If you wish to use the database you will need to erase my data, or simply replace it as you enter your own data.
he best way to find out about the database is probably to try it. I'll just say a little, however. I decided to treat machos and hembras quite separately, since the type of data one records for each is largely different. I've provided a flexible system for printing reports on one or more animals, with good control over the type of
information printed. Photographs which can be in Adobe Photoshop or other formats and résumés which can be in Microsoft Word or other formats can be included and accessed via the database, if required.
o run the database you require a computer running Windows 95, with Microsoft Access installed. To download the database (zipped file of 1.22 Mbytes, unzipping to about 4.25 Mbytes) click here.
